Daily New Discoveries

· One min read

So, recently, I was just listening to random songs on YouTube Music, and somehow, I found a song that I added to my favorites playlist. It's called "Land of Petals" by Ibrahim, from the album "Recharge," and it currently has around 1.2 million plays.

I headed to his profile to see if there were any other songs I might like, and soon enough, I found one of his older albums called "Recalibrate." There's a song in there called "What Am I," and its melody and pattern sound almost exactly like "Land of Petals." However, it only had around 6,000 plays.

Not sure what else to say about it, but it's still pretty interesting to me that two nearly identical songs with different instruments and tiny new little differences have such large differences in play count.

Thoughts about Consistent and Decent UI Design

I hated inconsistent or trash UI design. Why? It's simple, I probably have OCD over bad designs.

I don't get why none of the software companies never either respect the system UI's original design, or either make something HORRIBLE. For example, all the browsers that didn't came on your OS by default, they all have their own UI especially they replace native menu UIs with their own which creates a terrible experience when you use something on a specific system.

Besides some disrespectful and inconsistent designs, I see both Apple and Microsoft makes the most consistent designs from what I see overall. Windows 10's Fluent Design System was a disaster, but at least Microsoft made Windows 11 pretty consistent (by what meant their consistency, check out their Windows 11 preview builds in Dev Channel for their latest UI updates.)

And as for Apple, they probably win the battle because they have far most consistent designs, but that only applies for their OS, especially only iOS. Their website really looks messy besides their product page as they update the product page each year, but for pages like App Store web preview, Remembering Steve, and many other pages, they still use outdated elements and design, which is horrifying considering they really don't care about old pages and just left them behind from what I see.

So yeah, any software companies that are willing to make a decent, nice looking, and overall consistent UI design? I hope so.

Some words about my current life

· 2 min read

Hey, as I guaranteed, I will be actually using the blogging area to post some random things.

So let's just talk about my current life. I live in a place where you know, exams decide your future school, therefore also decides what your future is.

I'd say I'm not a very good learner in school subjects considering I always get a B or B+ on most of the tests, which if you want good grades in order to go to a better school you need at least A or A+.

In Taiwan, most of the junior high school student take the "Comprehensive Assessment Program for Junior High School Students" exam in order to enter your desired school via open admissions (which yes it's called "open admissions" method but students still have to compare exam scores to see which school you're eligible, smh), and the exam is around just 80 days before it starts, so I DON'T KNOW GIVE ME ANSWERS TO THE EXAMS PLEASE.

Although the teachers will probably say you can enter whatever school you want, but in reality this is still Asian education, obviously your parents want to enter some really high score schools, this is honestly stressful for most of the students including me, if you're seriously expecting a student who doesn't do great at school subjects and make them get good grades right now then you're definitely on crack.

Whatever bye, I probably will not be too active in Minecraft or Roblox for now.

Hello! This is my Docusaurus website, I always wanted to have one, but I somehow managed to fail compiling the website and each time end up like trash, so I had to get help from @AdminRAT to help me compile a VuePress website which the archive is still available via https://raymond-1227.gitlab.io.

You might ask why would I replace the VuePress website with Docusaurus? Well, it's simple:

  • I don't like its design anymore
  • GitLab CI doesn't want to build the latest update
  • Too lazy to check what the problem was causing

It might sound dumb to you, but that's the actual reason why I'm replacing the website.

So now I'm gonna continue all my work here, the old website will not be deleted and stay in a state of archive.
